IN-OFFICE BALLOON SINUPLASTY

Balloon sinus dilation (BSD), sometimes referred to as "balloon sinuplasty", is a relatively recent technology that can, in some cases, be an alternative to traditional endoscopic sinus surgery. This technique can be performed in the office under local anesthesia. Unlike traditional sinus surgery, BSD does not require the cutting or removal of tissue. Instead, abnormally-narrowed sinus openings are dilated, or stretched open, using a small balloon catheter.
